New admission requirements for the Master of Science Programmes
The Board of BI Norwegian Business School decided on 1 September 2011, on the basis of recommendations from the Master of Science Programme Committee and the Senate, to raise the admission requirement for the MSc programmes to 3.50 (B) from the 2012 intake. Only students with an average grade of B or better will then be accepted into the MSc programmes.
Detailed requirements will be formulated and published at a later date.

Be advised that the grade requirement do not affect students in the integrated 5-year Business and Economics (siviløkonom) programme.
2011 intake now closed
The Master of Science intake for autumn 2011 is now closed.
We will open for applications for 2012 later this autumn.

The application deadline for the Master of Science programmes commencing autumn 2011 was
the 15th of March 2011 for international students
and 15th of April 2011 for Norwegian students.
Attachments had to be sent by 15th of May the latest.
Any changes in deadlines for autumn 2012 will be posted here.
Admission Process
Applicants should submit the following:
- Official university/college transcripts: copies of transcripts and degrees must be certified as true copies and include an official explanation of the grade scale used. All academic records not in English or a Scandinavian language should be accompanied by a certified English translation. If you have not completed your undergraduate education when applying, send in the most recent transcript.
- An official and original GMAT/GRE test score (copies are not accepted) and an official and original TOEFL/IELTS test score: Test results should be sent directly to us. The code of BI Norwegian School of Management is 0529. See here for more information.
- An application essay (motivation letter) in English (in Norwegian if you apply for Master in Professional Accountancy). In the application essay you should explain your ambitions/dreams and how they relate to your choice of the MSc programme at our school. This should be appr. 1 page.
- A financial plan. All international applicants must submit a personal financial plan. A financial plan is an overview of how you plan to finance your studies (see this attachment for details).
Acknowledgment of Applications
We will normally acknowledge receipt of your application within 48 hours (preferably by e-mail: include your current e-mail address on the application form).
Please note that around the application deadlines it may take more than 48 hours to acknowledge the receipt of your application.
In case items are missing or further information is required, you will be contacted.
Review of Application/ Final Decision
Once your application is complete we shall proceed to the review stage.
The admission committee consists of the MSc administration and representatives from the faculty.
We will look at your GPA (Grade Point Average), GMAT/GRE score, TOEFL/IELTS score, your motivation letter, and the subjects you have taken in your undergraduate education. You will then be informed of our decision.
If you are offered a place of study (which may be conditional on your completion of undergraduate study or re-taking tests to improve an unsatisfactory score), you must accept within a certain time period (usually one month) in order to be eligible to enroll.
Admission requirements
Listed below you find the general admission requirements applying to all Master Programmes. Please be aware that each programme has its own specific admission requirements. (See the left hand menu for link to the requirements of this programme.)
Academic background: A complete, good and recognized undergraduate bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning (min. three years) in Business (Administration), Management, Economics, Marketing, Finance and/or subject relevant to the chosen area of specialization.
- A solid academic record with a satisfactory GPA. See specific GPA requirements for the different programmes.
- A satisfactory score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or GRE test. A requirement waiver may be granted under certain conditions: contact the MSc administration for details. See here for more information.
- A satisfactory score on IELTS or TOEFL language tests. See here for more information.
