After four years of studying in Norway, Eivind Johannessen chose to explore the opportunities of going on exchange. BI has over 170 exchange agreements with academic institutions in more than 40 countries worldwide and Eivind can hardly think of a better way he could have varied his studies, and at the same time make himself more attractive for future employers.

- The key reason for why I went on exchange was to get some variety in my studies. Having studied at BI for four years, I felt that I needed some new challenges and impulses in my daily life, Eivind says.

More attractive for future employers

- Furthermore, I cannot deny the fact that I knew exchange programmes look good when applying for jobs. At last, I really wanted to go abroad for some time, and this was therefore a great opportunity to widen my horizon.

After a semester at the University of Zürich in Switzerland, Eivind gained valuable experience besides several good memories to look back on.

- I would not hesitate one moment to recommend at least one semester on exchange. It is a great experience, and, frankly, having studied at the same place for several years – it was highly needed, Eivind states.

Living abroad can be much easier than one expects

- You get a lot of valuable experience from an exchange semester. I learned that living abroad was much easier than first expected. Another experience was that I found out that even though Switzerland looks very similar to Norway at first glance, there are big differences both in culture, people and everyday life between the two countries.
