- I always regretted not going on exchange during my Bachelor degree, so I felt this was my final chance before I became a “grown up” and started my working career. An exchange would give me an opportunity to expand my knowledge, and challenge myself by moving out of my comfort zone and away from familiar territory. It would also give me international experience in order to succeed in the job application process, which was to be my next step, Marie explains.

Valuable Experiences

DoorAmongst the vast opportunities offered by BI, Marie chose to travel west and attend Reykjavik University. During her semester in the Icelandic capital she gained valuable experience, both from her studies and from extracurricular activities.

- Both the school and its facilities were really great. The professors we had were flown in from different universities, mostly from the UK, and their experience within their field of teaching was remarkable contributing to all my courses being really, really interesting, Marie states.

Personal and professional growth

Waterfall IcelandThe exchange to Iceland was an important experience for Marie, both professionally and personally. New contacts, improved language skills and a better cultural understanding are some of the experiences Marie acquired during her time on the island.

- I would definitely recommend an exchange. The exchange programme allowed me to meet people from all over Europe who share my interests within HR.

- I believe the exchange semester contributed to my growth as a person, both personally and professionally. I really enjoyed getting to know students from all over the world with totally different points of view than my own. I also got to improve my English quite substantially. Even though teaching at BI is in English, it is something quite different when you are communicating with other nationalities all day, and not just when you are at school. I found that this had quite an impact on my language proficiency, she concludes.
