- I wanted to experience something new, get more international experience and try to live in another culture. Additionally, it gave me an advantage on the job market later, and this experience helped increase my international network, Morten Klauer says after a semester at the French business school, EM Lyon.
The gastronomic centre of the world
EM Lyon Business School has a history of more than 140 years in educating business graduates and provided a solid foundation in cultural understanding besides the traditional business courses. But Morten's semester not only consisted of hard work and academic challenges. The city itself also became a favored city for Morten.
- My best memories were living and being a student in a different culture and at a new school. Becoming friends with new people from all over the world, and discovering the city of Lyon and other parts of France was a once in a lifetime experience. One of my greatest experiences was experiencing Lyon as the gastronomic centre of the world, Morten comments.
- I have learned a lot at EM Lyon. But thereto, the experiences with different cultures have also made me more aware of how to work with people from other countries. To live in France has given me the opportunity to learn more about the French society, culture and habits.
An excellent opportunity
Morten says a semester abroad is something all students should have. In his opinion, it is too good an opportunity to waste.
- I would strongly recommend others to do the same. Use the opportunity; you will most likely not get this kind of opportunity at a later stage in your life. Use your free time to discover the country you are in, and use the opportunity to learn more about business and economics with a slightly different approach than what you are used to at BI. But most important of all, enjoy every second of your exchange, he concludes.
