The MSc in Strategy and Innovation is currently only available to students who have been admitted to the Master of International Business at Queen's School of Business, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
The Strategy and Innovation programme provides a rigorous program for people pursuing or planning to pursue a career in strategy consulting and business development. In order to become consultants or staff analysts it is not enough to have knowledge about and understand introductory strategy. One must also be able to judge the appropriateness of models and techniques.
Programme focus
The core field is strategy and innovation, developed through courses and thesis. Students will be able to apply theoretical frameworks within the area of Strategy and Innovation to real life business problems. Students will learn about the role of leadership with a particular emphasis on strategic direction. Students will develop general skills in ethical thinking and be able to identify ethical aspects within the core fields of business, they will have a solid theoretical understanding of a core fields of business, with proven ability to apply theory to real life business problems, they will understand complex environmental challenges and opportunities that may lead a differentiated portfolio of actions and they will develop practical skills in order to actively participate in entrepreneurial and innovative actions. Students will be aware of conflicting interests involved in decision-making – both in politics and management, and be trained in identifying relevant ethical dilemmas in the management of business. Students will develop an understanding of the business needs related to innovation.
Programme structure
The MSc in Strategy and Innovation is a one-year programme that is taken on top of at least 60 ECTS in Business, Management or Economics at the postgraduate (master) level. The programme consists of 66 ECTS credits: 36 courses credits and 30 thesis credits.
