University of California at Berkeley (UCB) was founded in 1868 and is the oldest university of the ten universities in the California-system. The city of Berkeley is situated half an hour east of San Franscisco in North-California and has almost 100 000 citizens. The student population at the university, which is approximately 35 000, are of large importance for the city of Berkeley.
UC Berkeley is perceived as the best public university in USA. The Bay Area is the most innovative area with head offices for companies as Google, eBay and Gap.
This is a "study abroad" programme, which means that there is an additional fee of approximately 15 000 NOK for the semester, which is not covered by Lånekassen.

Academic options
Students from BI are able to take selected courses from the Institute of Sociology. Students will receive a transcript from UC Berkeley Extension as a supplement to their BI transcript.
Course structure for the autumn semester:
- Three mandatory courses: Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Organizational Design (strategy); Writing Seminar
- One elective course
Course structure for the spring semester:
- Two mandatory courses: Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Writing Seminar
- Two elective courses
Please note that there will be no options to choose courses within mathematics, finance or economics.
