Surprisingly, professional education in the fields of energy economics, energy management and energy policy has been limited. Competent managerial professionals are scarce. The scarcity is particularly severe in some developing regions, such as Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Russia and the former Soviet republics. Here residential and service sector demands are growing quickly.
There is an urgent need for more efficient management at both the corporate and the government levels of energy issues, and it is our role to offer appropriate programmes to meet this need.
