Supply Chain and Operations Management

Introduction

The objective of the course is to introduce the main challenges and trade-offs that operations and supply chain managers in energy industry face, as well as to discuss how to deal with those challenges based on theory and practice. For example, it can be argued that supply chain disruptions, advances in technology, focus on sustainability and energy transition during the last decade had impacted design, planning and execution of companies‘ operations. In this course we focus on the process view of the supply chains for upstream, midstream and downstream players, integration of renewable energy operations, risk management, new business models and digitalization. We will highlight the trade-offs between the cost efficiency, quality, availability, environmental and societal considerations in operational decision-making.
