The Nordic Research Centre of Labour Law (NORLAB) at BI Norwegian Business School welcomes you to the conference "The Future of Labour Law: Challenges and Ideas".
This event marks the official launch of the center and serves as its inaugural international conference, to be held in Oslo on 18–19 May, 2026.
As digitalization, artificial intelligence, and the climate crisis redefine the global economy, this conference provides a dedicated space to examine how labour laws can adapt to protect worker rights. The conference panels will explore the Nordic labour law model in a new era; labour law and sustainability; new technologies and labour law (with a special focus on AI); new developments in EU labour law; and new ideas concerning labour law’s goals and means. It is an opportunity to learn about and discuss cutting-edge analyses and ideas with some of the leading labour law scholars in the world.
The Nordic Research Centre of Labour Law (NORLAB) aspires to be a leading hub for rigorous academic inquiry and impactful real-world applications in the field of labour law. As the largest labour law research environment in Norway, BI Norwegian Business School provides the ideal academic home for the center to foster interdisciplinary research and facilitate meaningful dialogue among scholars, practitioners, and policymakers. NORLAB’s mission is to advance the discipline by promoting evidence-based legal development and addressing critical challenges in working life, aiming to influence the evolution of labour law and employment relations throughout the Nordic region and beyond.
