BI receives five-year reaccreditation from EQUIS

27 March 2026

BI Norwegian Business School has been awarded reaccreditation by EQUIS for a further five-year period. The recognition reflects BI’s continued commitment to maintaining the highest standards as a leading business school.

As the first Norwegian business school to earn all the three most prestigious international accreditations, BI therefore retains its exclusive Triple Crown status.

“Receiving this reaccreditation is a powerful verification of BI’s standing as a world-class business school. It confirms our position among the less than 1% of business schools with Triple Crown status. I am especially proud that EQUIS commends BI for our close connection to the business community, alongside our high-quality research and study programmes, as well as our modern campus facilities. This achievement belongs to the entire organisation; it is a result of the tireless dedication our employees show every single day to ensure excellence in everything we do,” says Karen Spens, President of BI.

BI hosted a special EQUIS reaccreditation visit in January. The school was first accredited by EQUIS back in 1999, and this is the fifth time that BI undergoes this reaccreditation process.

There are three important accreditations for business schools with international ambitions: the European EQUIS (European Quality Improvement Systems), the US-based AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and the UK-based AMBA (Association of MBAs).

A Peer Review Team appointed by EFMD, composed of senior representatives from leading international business schools, carried out the review, focusing on how BI works with strategy, quality, and continous development.

“We are honored to receive so much praise from EQUIS, ranging from our academic rigor to our strong support systems. While we celebrate these results, we are also happy to receive concrete recommendations on how we can improve and develop our institution further. Moving forward, we will use this momentum to ensure that BI remains at the absolute forefront of global business education,” says Spens.
