BI Norwegian Business School has secured a prestigious grant from the Research Council of Norway to recruit international research talent Bence Bardóczy.

Bardóczy moves to Oslo from the United States to help unlock new insights into how households manage their money across generations. He is an expert in macroeconomic modelling and policy analysis.

Joining BI from the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C., Bardóczy will become a key member of the Centre for Household Finance and Macroeconomics (HOFIMAR).

The recruitment is part of the project Dynastic Finance: Formation, Management and Taxation of Dynasties, which is funded by the Research Council of Norway’s prestigious FRIPRO scheme.

At BI, Bardóczy will contribute with his expertise to complement a strong empirical research environment, creating new opportunities to combine detailed administrative data with modern economic models.

“This is a crucially important recruitment for the project and our research group at HOFIMAR. Bence strengthens our ability to connect rich data with structural economic models,” says Andreas Fagereng, Professor of Finance at BI and project leader.

Under the leadership of Professor Gisle Natvik, HOFIMAR provides a robust environment for this work, utilizing high-quality administrative data, close collaboration with Norwegian and international institutions, and a strong track record of externally funded projects.

“Bence will be a fantastic addition to HOFIMAR and to the Oslo macro research community in general. He brings analytical skills that complement the empirical strengths of our existing group and significantly improve our ability to push the international research frontier in macroeconomics,” says Natvik.
