BI receives high rating in global sustainability survey
25 June 2026Based on feedback from students, BI Norwegian Business School advances to the second-highest level of the 2026 Positive Impact Rating, recognising that sustainability and societal impact culture is now deeply embedded across the institution.
The Positive Impact Rating assesses how business schools contribute positively to society, based on students’ experiences and perceptions. 86 schools from 28 countries and over 17.000 students participated in this year’s survey.
A more inclusive campus

"The voice of the students remain essential in shaping BI's sustainability and social responsibility efforts", says Ronja Haugstad Larsen, National General Manager in BISO.
The 1,166 BI students who participated gave BI an overall score of 7.9 out of 10. Students rated BI particularly highly for its culture, values and role as a responsible institution.
"We are very happy to see that so many BI students, by taking part in this survey, want to take an active role in shaping their education and creating a more inclusive campus. Now that we have all this data, our focus shifts to turning these insights into concrete actions”.
“A clear direction”
“The results show that students recognise the progress BI has made in our programmes and campus culture, while also giving us a clear direction for further improvement," says Ann Kristin Helgeland Calisch, project manager and Special Adviser for Strategy, Sustainability and Governance at BI.
"We actively use the Positive Impact Rating as a compass for our further development, and their engagement helps us embed these values even deeper into BI's culture.”
Students call for more visible action
According to the survey results, BI students want greener campus operations, more practical learning and stronger partnerships with business and society. They also want sustainability and responsibility to be integrated more consistently across the curriculum.
Other priorities highlighted by the students include reducing single-use materials and waste on campus, supporting student-led initiatives and offering more programmes with real-world sustainability cases, for positive social or environmental impact.
