Leading Across Borders: Culture, Mobility, and Virtuality

Introduction

In an increasingly globalized world, where organizations are seeking to attract international talent and where individuals are increasingly mobile, cultural awareness and cross-cultural leadership knowledge and skills are essential. Organizations also need to adjust their human resources management practices to better deal with cultural diversity.

This course is a theoretical, analytical, and experience-based foundation for understanding the challenges and opportunities involved in leading a culturally diverse workforce.

In this course, we use organizational and psychological research to explore culture, mobility, cross-cultural leadership, and international HR management. We examine how cultural differences shape workplace behavior, the challenges and opportunities of international mobility, and the links between culture, leadership, and social sustainability. We also discuss managing diversity in multinational corporations, leading global virtual teams, and the ethical dilemmas that arise from cultural diversity.
