Introduction

Please note that this is a preliminary course description. The final version will be published in June 2026.

This course bridges the gaps between theory and practice. It focuses on the analysis of business challenges drawn from active firms and covers a variety of discipline-specific issues. It emphasizes analytical thinking in a real-world context. The initial cases present business challenges tailored to each major. The last case is integrative in nature and necessitates cooperation across disciplines. Student groups are challenged to rigorously analyse contemporary business problems, building on methodologies from the common courses, as well as incorporating tools and methods relevant to students' specific majors. Students will develop skills in applied problem resolution, analysis, decision-making, and conveying their insights through effective communication and presentations. The course also covers industry-specific tools, business acumen, and best practices essential for decisions within the various majors.

Course content

This course is divided into two major parts.

  1. Monodisciplinary practice: In this part of the course, students will be introduced to discipline-specific methods and tools to apply their acquired knowledge to discipline-specific active business challenges. Industry practitioners will share discipline-specific tools applied to solve daily assignments.

Multidisciplinary practice: In this part of the course, the student will work in randomly assigned groups to solve firm-level strategic challenges which are influenced and informed by discipline-specific considerations and in turn impact the future practice of disciplines. Industry practitioners will share tools applied when working on both firm strategy and in multidisciplinary teams.
