Finansforbundet Master Scholarship

Awarded to an applicant with a strong academic record admitted to the Master in Finance degree.

Finansforbundet Scholarship Programme

Awarded to a candidate who demonstrates strong academic achievements, the Finansforbundet Master Scholarship is open to eligible applicants who apply to, and are accepted in, the Master in Finance degree programme and who are a member of Finansforbundet.

The scholarship will cover tuition fees for up to 2 years of study following the standard study plan for a master’s degree. 

No internship, thesis counselling, or job opportunities are attached to this scholarship.

Who can apply
  • Applicants with strong academic records who hold Norwegian citizenship.
  • Candidates must have a minimum overall GPA of 4.0 on the ECTS scale to be considered. Applicants with international education will have their grades converted to the ECTS scale by BI Norwegian Business School.
  • Applicants who apply to and receive an offer of admission to the Master in Finance degree at BI Norwegian Business School.
  • The Finansforbundet Master Scholarship is an externally sponsored scholarship. Applicants must be a member of Finansforbundet in order to be eligible to be considered for this scholarship.
  • Only applicants seeking their first master’s degree are considered.
How to apply
  • Always apply for a scholarship at the same time as you apply for admission.
  • Write a scholarship application letter specifically for this scholarship, maximum one-page, outlining why you should receive this scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, not on financial need.
  • This scholarship is to be awarded to a member of Finansforbundet. As membership in Finansforbundet is an eligibility requirement for this industry-sponsored scholarship, applicants must self-identify as a member. Applicants must include their Finansforbundet membership number in their application letter and give BI consent to verify their membership status with Finansforbundet. 
  • Applicants must also include the following statement:
    • I am currently a member of the Finansforbundet. I hereby give BI Norwegian Business School my consent to verify my membership in Finansebundet as a requisite to determining eligibility for consideration for the Finansforbundet Master Scholarship. My membership number is: 
  • Upload your application letter including the statement of consent to the section marked ‘Scholarship’ in your online application for admission.
  • Include all the required documentation to be evaluated for admission to a full-time master programme. The scholarship application will only be considered if a complete application for admission has been submitted and the offer of admission is accepted.

Please note it is not possible to apply directly to Finansforbundet for this scholarship.

Application Deadline

Application deadline is March 1.

Applicants: A complete application for admission, including your scholarship application, must be uploaded to the online application portal. Applications for scholarships are not accepted by email.

Late applications will not be considered.

Selection of recipient

Each year, the number of scholarship applications received from master’s applicants is far greater than the number of scholarships available.

  • BI Norwegian Business School aims to build a diverse and international student body.
  • Only applicants who have been admitted to a full-time master’s degree and have applied as instructed will be considered.
  • Only the scholarship application and the documentation submitted at the time of application for admission are considered. No additional documentation is accepted once the application is submitted.
  • BI ensures distribution of scholarships across full-time master’s programmes.
  • BI reserves the right to award scholarships according to institutional priorities which may include, but are not limited to, prioritizing specific master’s programmes, diversity and gender distribution, or selected partner schools of BI.
  • All candidates will be assessed according to the ECTS scale. Applicants with international bachelor's degrees will have their grades converted to the ECTS scale.
  • Other factors that may influence awarding could be other academic achievements, GMAT/GRE/CAT scores, extracurricular achievements, and special personal achievements.
Notification of recipient
  • Scholarship offers are not sent with offers of admission. You will receive the offer of admission first.
  • Applicants must accept the offer of admission while awaiting scholarship decisions.
  • Scholarship offers may be sent to selected candidates throughout the admission cycle.
  • All master’s scholarship applicants, including those not selected, will be informed of the scholarship application decision by the end of April.
  • Scholarship offers must be accepted by the date indicated on the offer. Scholarships not accepted by the deadline will be withdrawn/cancelled and awarded to another candidate.
  • Every effort is made for scholarships to be awarded by the end of April with the exception of the A. Wilhelmsen Foundation Scholarship and the BI-Luiss Joint Master in Marketing Scholarship which are awarded later in the spring.

Scholarship decisions are final and non-negotiable. Scholarship decisions cannot be appealed.

Academic Progression Requirements

All candidates must meet academic progression requirements to maintain their scholarship. Detailed requirements are included in the Scholarship Agreement.

  1. Full study progression (30 ECTS) in each semester.
  2. Minimum cumulative GPA of a "B" on the BI ECTS scale after completion of each academic semester.
  3. Candidates who are awarded the Finansforbundet Master Scholarship must be prepared to be "BI Ambassadors", acting as spokespeople, assisting in recruitment efforts, and promoting a good study environment. Scholarship recipients will be informed about responsibilities during the academic year.

Please note:

  1. You may apply for more than one scholarship; however, BI Norwegian Business School will award only one scholarship per applicant.
  2. Awarded scholarships are tied to a specific academic programme at a designated campus and cannot be transferred.
  3. International candidates who are eligible for tuition fee reduction and/or a student loan in Norway from Lånekassen (eg. 180 ECTS bachelor’s degree from a Norwegian educational institution) are considered as domestic applicants for scholarship purposes.
  4. Only candidates seeking their first master’s degree are considered for full-time master scholarships.

Only candidates admitted to the Master in Finance degree commencing Autumn 2026 will be considered for this scholarship.
