Reitan Retail Master Scholarship

Awarded to an applicant with a superior academic record admitted to the Master in Business at campus Oslo or campus Bergen.

The Reitan Retail Master Scholarship Programme

Awarded to a candidate who demonstrates strong academic achievements, the Reitan Retail Master Scholarship is open to eligible applicants who apply to, and are accepted in, the Master in Business at campus Oslo or campus Bergen.

The scholarship will cover tuition fees, for up to two years of study following the standard study plan. 

No internship, thesis counselling, or job opportunities are attached to this scholarship.

Scholarship Award

The Reitan Retail Master Scholarship will cover full tuition fees for up to two years if the student maintains the academic progression requirements for scholarship recipients.

No internship, thesis counselling, or job opportunities are attached to this scholarship.

Eligibility
  • Applicants with superior academic records who hold Nordic or Baltic citizenship
  • A minimum overall GPA of 4.0 is required.
  • Applicants who apply to and receive an offer of admission to the Master in Business degree programme at campus Oslo or campus Bergen.
  • Students in the 3rd year of the Sivøk programme are eligible to apply.
  • Only applicants seeking their first master’s degree are considered.
How to apply
  • Applications for scholarship are not accepted by email, with the exception of 3rd year Sivøk applicants (see below).
  • Always apply for a scholarship at the same time as you apply for admission.
  • Write a scholarship application letter, maximum one-page, outlining why you should receive this scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, not on financial need.
  • Upload it to the section marked ‘Scholarship’ in your online application for admission.
  • Include all the required documentation to be evaluated for admission to a full-time Master programme. The scholarship application will only be considered if a complete application for admission has been submitted and the offer of admission is accepted.
  • BI students currently in their 3rd year of the Siviløkonom programme, can apply in the spring of their 3rd year by sending their CV and a scholarship application letter to info@bi.no with the subject line: Master Scholarship Application
  • Only one scholarship application letter is required for an applicant to be considered for any scholarships for which they are qualified.  

Please note it is not possible to apply directly to Reitan AS for this scholarship.

Application Deadline

Application deadline is March 1

Applicants: A complete application for admission, including your scholarship application, must be uploaded to the online application portal. Applications for scholarships are not accepted by email.

Late applications will not be considered.

Selection of recipient

Each year, the number of scholarship applications received from master’s applicants is far greater than the number of scholarships available.

  • BI Norwegian Business School aims to build a diverse and international student body.
  • Only applicants who have been admitted to a full-time master’s degree and have applied as instructed will be considered.
  • Only the scholarship application and the documentation submitted at the time of application for admission are considered. No additional documentation is accepted once the application is submitted.
  • BI ensures distribution of scholarships across full-time master’s programmes.
  • BI reserves the right to award scholarships according to institutional priorities which may include, but are not limited to, prioritizing specific master’s programmes, diversity and gender distribution, or selected partner schools of BI.
  • All candidates will be assessed according to the ECTS scale. Applicants with international bachelor's degrees will have their grades converted to the ECTS scale.
  • Other factors that may influence awarding could be other academic achievements, GMAT/GRE/CAT scores, extracurricular achievements, and special personal achievements.
Notification of recipient
  • Scholarship offers are not sent with offers of admission. You will receive the offer of admission first.
  •  Applicants must accept the offer of admission while awaiting scholarship decisions.
  • Scholarship offers may be sent to selected candidates throughout the admission cycle.
  • All master’s scholarship applicants, including those not selected, will be informed of the scholarship application decision by the end of April.
  • Scholarship offers must be accepted by the date indicated on the offer. Scholarships not accepted by the deadline will be withdrawn/cancelled and awarded to another candidate.
  • Every effort is made for scholarships to be awarded by the end of April with the exception of the A. Wilhelmsen Foundation Scholarship and the BI-Luiss Joint Master in Marketing Scholarship which are awarded later in the spring.

Scholarship decisions are final and non-negotiable. Scholarship decisions cannot be appealed.

Academic Progression Requirements

All candidates must meet academic progression requirements to maintain their scholarship. Detailed requirements are included in the Scholarship Agreement.

  1. Full study progression (30 ECTS) in each semester.
  2. Minimum cumulative GPA of a "B" on the BI ECTS scale after completion of each academic semester.
  3. Candidates who are awarded the Reitan Master Scholarship must be prepared to be "BI Ambassadors", acting as spokespeople, assisting in recruitment efforts, and promoting a good study environment. Scholarship recipients will be informed about responsibilities during the academic year.

 

Please note:

  1. You may apply for more than one scholarship; however, BI Norwegian Business School will award only one scholarship per applicant.
  2. Awarded scholarships are tied to a specific academic programme at a designated campus and cannot be transferred.
  3. International candidates who are eligible for tuition fee reduction and/or a student loan in Norway from Lånekassen (eg. 180 ECTS bachelor’s degree from a Norwegian educational institution) are considered as domestic applicants for scholarship purposes.
  4. Only candidates seeking their first master’s degree are considered for full-time master scholarships.

Only candidates admitted to the Master in Business degree commencing Autumn 2026 will be considered for this scholarship.
