Einar Christopher Wellén

Einar Christopher Wellén is a Lecturer at BI Norwegian Business School. He holds a master’s degree in Modelling and Data Analysis, specialising in statistics, and a law degree (cand.jur.) from the University of Oslo. He has also completed PhD-level courses in multivariate statistics and formal training in higher education pedagogy.

His research interests include structural equation modelling, robust estimation, and model fit assessment. In collaboration with Professor Ulf Henning Olsson, he investigates methodological questions concerning the root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA), using analytical methods and Monte Carlo simulations. Wellén teaches statistics, mathematics, and data analysis at bachelor’s and master’s levels. He coordinates two large introductory statistics courses across BI’s campuses and is a co-author of the textbook Statistikk og dataanalyse – en moderne innføring.

His teaching emphasises conceptual understanding, active learning, and practical applications. He is also interested in contributing to greater coherence and progression across courses within BI’s programmes. His student guidance includes individual support and supervision of practical coursework in statistical analysis and programming, with an emphasis on analytical reasoning, interpretation, and critical reflection.
