Abstract
Recent Trends in Graph Learning - Discrete Algorithms in AI and Data Science
In the last decade, graph learning has emerged as a separate subfield, merging several areas of research under a common umbrella. Graph learning includes a wide range of machine learning techniques that involve graphs, covering a wide range of applications. Common to all these techniques is the dependency on combinatorial structures which are commonly expressed as graphs. However, the graphs play a very dissimilar role in the different areas of graph learning, between structuring the data in most common GNNs, constituting the primary data in network problems, or representing the learning objective itself.
In this talk we will give an overview over the field and highlight new research directions based on a recent workshop. We will introduce core concepts such as Graph Neural Networks and their learning algorithms, and present new trends in multiple subfields including graph construction, network alignment, community detection, and learning-enhanced optimization.
