The global economy is only 7% circular and declining. In Norway, that figure sits at a staggering 3.3%.
While recycling is often seen as the solution, it is the "loop of last resort." To stay within planetary boundaries and unlock trillions in economic value, we must focus on the most powerful strategy of all: Reduction. This seminar shifts focus toward creating smaller, tighter loops, and rethinking business models and product design to keep resources in use for as long as possible.
In this seminar, leading academia from BI Norwegian Business School will join forces with industry pioneers to discuss how Norway can bridge its circularity gap. We will explore how corporate-level shifts and regional governance can accelerate the transition, moving beyond theory into actionable systemic change.
The conversation brings together perspectives from across the Norwegian food system—ranging from the soil-free vertical farming of ONNA and the precision logistics of Oda, to the waste-minimizing design of Cheffelo. Together, we will examine how production and retail can collaborate to create loops that no single actor can achieve alone.
