His Majesty King Harald V 1937–2026
28 August 2026It is with great sadness that we have received the news of the passing of His Majesty King Harald V.
“The King has been a unifying symbol for the Norwegian people for decades. His wisdom, warmth, and strong commitment to society have left a deep mark. From BI Norwegian Business School, our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to Her Majesty the Queen, the Royal Family, and all who are now grieving," says Egil Matsen, President of BI Norwegian Business School.
BI is marking the King's passing across all our campuses. Flags are flying at half-mast, and condolence books will be available for students and colleagues to write their final greetings.
Teaching and regular activities will be carried out as planned. If recommendations or directives are issued that impact teaching or other activities at BI, we will inform students and colleagues as quickly as possible.
