BI is seeking two new provosts

Both provosts will report to the President and be part of BI’s top management team. 

“These are two crucial leadership roles for BI. High-quality international education and research is at the core of our operations. I am looking for two strong academic leaders who can take clear responsibility for their respective areas and, through collaboration, maintain a holistic view of our academic development. Together with the rest of the management team, they will foster good collaboration, promote innovation, and build an organisational culture defined by inclusion and trust,” says Egil Matsen, President of BI. 

Education, research, and academic resources are closely linked 

The two provosts will have different areas of responsibility but will work closely together on the development of BI’s academic activities. The faculty is vital both to the quality of research and to the development of the school’s educational offerings, pedagogy, and learning methods. 

“We need an academic staff capable of delivering research at a high international level, while simultaneously developing and delivering education of high quality and relevance. Artificial intelligence is a prime example of why these areas must be viewed in context. AI is changing how we conduct research, how we teach and learn, and how we develop effective assessment methods. This creates new demands for expertise and development across the entire academic community,” says Matsen. 

Provost for Education 

The Provost for Education will have main responsibility for BI’s programme portfolio at the bachelor’s, master’s, and executive education levels. The role will lead the development of BI’s pedagogical strategy, enhance the learning experience, and further develop the use of digital solutions and artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, and assessment. Additionally, the position is responsible for the school’s Learning Centre and its department for programme quality. 

Provost for Research and Academic Resources 

The Provost for Research and Academic Resources will be responsible BI’s nine academic departments, research strategy and research centres, academic resources, research administration, library, and doctoral programmes. The role carries a special responsibility for developing strong academic communities and research environments, as well as ensuring that the composition and development of the faculty support BI’s strategic goals. 

Both positions are four-year fixed-term appointments.
