Business Communication - Culture and Ethics

Introduction

This course is designed for individuals planning to conduct business in international and multi-cultural contexts who seek to develop a critical understanding of business ethics and intercultural communication.

The course provides students with the opportunity to write clear and grammatically correct English in the following formats: (1) an essay (2) a short business report, (3) a formal business email. Students explain and analyze a portfolio of theoretical ideas within the field of intercultural theory. They apply these ideas to practical situations to evaluate how cultural patterns influence international business. Ethical awareness is an integral part of the course; students apply ethical theories to perform analyses that inform responsible business decision-making, accounting for social and environmental impacts beyond financial criteria.

Course content

  1. Intercultural communication: A portfolio of theoretical ideas and the limitations of interpretive science.
  2. Ethical awareness: A selection of ethical decision-making tools applied to situations where economic utility maximization is insufficient.
  3. AI Ethics and Application: Principles of responsible AI usage, including data privacy, fairness, and the critical refinement of AI-assisted professional drafting.
