Introduction
The course focuses on the most essential legal topics related to the establishment of copyright and neighboring rights. It provides insight into the purposes and fundamental principles upon which copyright rights are based, how new technologies—including AI—continuously challenge these rights, and which values copyright aims to protect in terms of diversity of expression, experiences, and sustainability, hence cultural heritage.
Course content
- Places copyright in an overall, intellectual property law perspective
- Provides thorough insight into copyright and other forms of protection in the Intellectual Property Act, including the impact of EU law on rights and regulation
- The knowledge provided by the course includes, among other things, insight into
- exclusive rights, moral rights and remuneration rights
- how rights are cleared
- about rights when using technology such as streaming and AI
- about law in social media
- information about organizations and clearing bodies in the culture and entertainment industry
