Personal Motivation

Personal Motivation

Personal motivation includes everything that truly drives you, beyond financial goals. While we all need an income, people find meaning and motivation in different values, interests and activities. There are many types of personal motivation, both in work and in life.

Working in a Company You’re Proud of

If self-image matters to you, you may be driven by the desire to work for a company you’re genuinely proud of. This can reflect wanting to feel competent, wanting to work with the best and learn from them, wanting to work in an innovative sector, or wanting to work in a company that has values you align with.

Doing Something of Your Own

The feeling of ownership is important for people who want to do something of their own. You want full freedom to make all decisions, as well as the satisfaction of building something from the ground up and watching your project grow.

Freedom of Choice

The feeling of freedom is important to you, and you’re motivated by feeling independent. This means you want to choose when and where you work, without needing to report to a boss or rely too much on others.

An international career

If you’re motivated by the idea of an international career, you’re probably an adventure-seeking and curious person. You want to learn foreign languages, experience new cultures, and see the world. You might also want to contribute towards international cooperation.

Chance to Create Change

If you're motivated by the idea of creating change, you likely have big dreams and big visions. These could take many forms – making the world more sustainable, more just, transforming an industry, or even changing how people live their everyday lives.

Expressing Your Creativity

If you’re motivated by expressing your creativity, you likely have a message you want to share. You want to help tell stories or create experiences that touch and inspire others.

Variation and Novelty

If you’re motivated by variety, curiosity, and excitement are important to you. You might seek to avoid routine, explore new ideas, learn new things, or find opportunities to use your full range of skills and talents.
