Storebrand partners with BI to develop new executive leadership program
3 November 2026Storebrand has ambitions to build a leading Nordic savings and insurance group by 2035. The company has now entered into a partnership with BI Norwegian Business School to develop a new executive leadership program aimed at strengthening Storebrand
Anders Dysvik, Academic Director of the programme and Professor at BI; Tove Selnes, Group Executive Vice President of People, Brand and Communications at Storebrand; and Marius Eriksen, EVP Business at BI.
The programme shifts the focus from individual leadership capabilities to the collective capacity of the leadership team. Participants will explore Storebrand’s strategic landscape and global drivers, while developing the skills needed to lead organisational change, make sound decisions in complex environments and build a shared culture across business areas and countries – a clear commitment to becoming “One Storebrand”.
– Our aim is to equip Storebrand’s senior leaders with the knowledge, strategic judgement and ability to navigate a world characterised by complexity and rapid change. We combine research-based theory with practical application to ensure that the learning is relevant and directly transferable to their day-to-day leadership roles, says Anders Dysvik, Academic Director of the programme and Professor at BI Norwegian Business School.
The programme has been developed in close collaboration between Storebrand and BI, with an initial pilot scheduled to take place this year.
Collective leadership development
Research-based insights, interactive workshops and scenario-based exercises are central elements of the programme. The partners also plan to introduce Nordic job shadowing as a tool for strengthening cross-functional collaboration. Leaders will observe one another in their day-to-day roles across functions and national borders to gain a deeper understanding of different perspectives, contributions and challenges.
– To realise our growth ambitions towards 2035, we need to strengthen our collective leadership capabilities. The programme with BI is an investment in our collective ability to execute. We will break down silos and accelerate the implementation of our strategy, says Tove Selnes, Group Executive Vice President of People, Brand and Communications at Storebrand.
The programme consists of several sessions at BI Norwegian Business School’s Oslo campus. In addition, approximately 25 executives will take part in a study visit to IE Business School in Madrid. There, they will gain insights into global trends shaping finance, technology, working life and sustainability, and explore how these developments are transforming the role of leaders.
Tailor-made programmes
BI Norwegian Business School has previously developed customised executive leadership programmes for both private and public sector organisations, including Veidekke and the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
– Contributing research-based knowledge and professional development to businesses and organisations is an important part of our societal mission. The advantage of this type of partnership is that we can tailor the content to the specific context and needs of each organisation. We are proud to deliver this programme to Storebrand and look forward to the collaboration, says Marius Eriksen, EVP Business at BI Norwegian Business School.
