Egil Matsen holds a PhD in Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics (2001). He has extensive leadership experience across academia, finance, and public administration. Matsen served as Deputy Governor of Norges Bank from 2016 to 2020 and was a member of its Executive Board for a ten-year period.
From 2020 to 2023, he was the CEO of the asset management company Forte Fondsforvaltning. His academic background includes roles as Professor and Head of Department at NTNU from 2014 to 2016 and Visiting Professor at Harvard University from 2013 to 2014. Additionally, he has experience as a researcher in the research department of Norges Bank.
Hoholm’s research areas are managing and organizing innovation, and learning and knowledge in and across organizations. He is currently conducting studies of the food industry (agri- and aquaculture), and of healthcare technologies and practices. Hoholm is particularly interested in how organizational and market practices and processes tend to be shaped through a complex interplay of human, technological, economic and cultural elements.
His research interests include interorganisational relationships and international management. Trust and identity are often core concepts. A recent project concerns interactions between multinational corporations and indigenous groups.
He holds a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Department of Government, on the development of competitive party systems in post-communist East Central Europe, and an M.Sc. and B.Sc. (econ) from the same institution.
He is also Professor of Public Policy at the Central European University and a Research Associate at the LSE's Centre for Analysis of Risk and Regulation.
Previous academic positions include lectureships at the American University, Florida State University and Reading University and a part-time teacher position at the LSE. Before completing his Ph.D. Nick Sitter worked as a political consultant in the oil and gas sector in London.
She holds a PhD from BI Norwegian Business School (2009) and conducts research in operations research, supply chain management, logistics, and business analytics.
Her research focuses on inventory and transportation planning, maritime logistics, supply chain network design, and sustainable operations, including carbon capture, transport and storage (CCS), renewable energy supply chains, and critical infrastructure resilience. She has published in leading international journals, including the International Journal of Production Economics and the European Journal of Operational Research.
Before joining BI as a faculty member in 2021, Dr. Engebrethsen held industry positions in supply chain management, risk management, and strategic sourcing at Aker Solutions, FMC Technologies, and DNV. Her work combines advanced analytical methods with practical applications to improve decision-making in industrial, maritime, and energy systems.
