BI Norwegian Business School is seeking a strategic and visionary President
We are now seeking a new President to lead BI through the next chapter of our journey. The President serves as BI’s chief executive officer, with overall academic and administrative responsibility, and reports directly to the Board of Trustees.
The President will shape and deliver BI’s strategic vision, ensuring continued excellence and relevance in research, education, and societal impact. BI’s Strategy 2030 – “Knowledge that makes a difference” sets an ambitious course to strengthen BI’s position as a world-class international business school, recognised for outstanding learning experiences, responsible graduates, and impactful research.
The President holds overall responsibility for institutional strategy, academic excellence, organisational effectiveness, and financial sustainability. To succeed, you will combine academic credibility with strategic and operational leadership. You will foster an inclusive, high-performing culture, build strong partnerships across academia, business, and government, and enhance BI’s visibility and influence in Norway and internationally.
We are looking for an experienced leader with a proven record of achievement from higher education or other large, complex knowledge-based organisations. You have a deep understanding of both Norwegian and international research and education systems and demonstrate the ability to lead through collaboration, clarity, and trust. A strong academic background minimum at Ph.D. level and a record of scholarly accomplishment are required, together with a solid understanding of research quality and research-based education relevant to business and society.
You bring a high level of competence in strategic planning, academic management, organisational development, and change leadership, as well as sound judgement in financial management and resource prioritisation. International experience is essential, along with excellent communication skills in English and proficiency in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
This is a unique opportunity to lead one of Europe’s foremost business schools during a period of growth, transformation, and ambition. The appointment is for a four-year term, with the possibility of renewal for one additional term.
