Treasury Management

Introduksjon

This course offers a comprehensive and strategically-oriented exploration of the corporate treasury function. Designed to bridge advanced financial theory with the complexities of operational reality, the curriculum establishes the optimization of the cost of capital and capital structure as the fundamental drivers for organizational decision-making.

The course investigates the core pillars of the treasury office, including sophisticated liquidity forecasting, working capital optimization, and the strategic execution of diverse financing instruments. Particular emphasis is placed on the interplay between corporate governance, debt covenant management, and credit positioning as essential tools for securing and maintaining capital. Furthermore, students will develop the analytical skills necessary to identify and mitigate financial risks through hedging and hedge accounting, while evaluating modern cash management architectures and the impact of digital transformation on payment systems.

The course incorporates selected content from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification, in particular the P2 Advanced Management Accounting and F3 Financial Strategy modules.

Kursets innhold

The course provides a comprehensive analysis of the strategic and operational responsibilities of the modern corporate treasury function. Students will explore how treasury management integrates with overall corporate strategy to ensure financial resilience and value creation. The curriculum covers the following core pillars:

  • Strategic Financial Foundations: Advanced perspectives on cost of capital and the optimization of capital structure.

  • Liquidity & Capital Management: Sophisticated liquidity forecasting techniques and the design of robust short-term financing strategies to ensure solvency and operational efficiency.

  • Funding Strategies: Evaluation of long-term financing instruments and access to capital markets.

  • Governance and the Credit Environment: The role of corporate governance, the mechanics of debt covenants, and the strategic importance of credit rating management.

  • Risk Management & Financial Reporting: Identification and mitigation of financial risks (FX, interest rate, and commodity) alongside the application of hedge accounting principles.

  • Global Cash & Payment Systems: Management of international cash pools, cross-border payment architectures, and the impact of digital transformation on cash operations.
