Susanne Elise Munch Thore

Susanne Munch Thore is a lecturer at BI's Institue for Law and Governance.

Susanne is cand.jur from University of Oslo (1987) and holds an LLM from Georgetown University School of law (1989). She also holds a diploma in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins School of International Affairs, Bologna (1985). She has been a practicing lawyer for most of her career, specialising in corporate law and transactions as well as corporate governance and compliance (including anti corruption, anti money laundering and sanctions) and ESG.She has worked as a reaseach assistant at the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law, University of Oslo in 1983-84 and as a lawyer at the Oslo Stock Exchange in 1991-1992. She was a partner of the law firm Wikborg Rein (Norwegian /international lawfirm) for 25 years and later at the Norwegian lawfirm Arntzen de Besche. She has management experience as global managing partner of Wikborg Rein from 2011 to 2016. She has also held the role of compliance- and anti money laundering officer at the respective law firms.

Susanne was a member of the Law Committee that proposed the 2018 Act on anti money laundering (NOU , and has led the Norwegian Bar Association’s Expert advisory group on anti money laundering between 2018 and 2024.

Susanne has extensive experience as a board member in publicly and privately owned companies and foundations. She currently holds several board positions.

Her particular fields of interest as a lecturer at BI are contract law, corporate law, corporate governance, compliance including anti money laundering and anti corruption, as well as sustainability. She is a frequent lecturer in these areas.
