This course provides an in-depth exploration of current topics in economics, covering both microeconomic and macroeconomic perspectives. Building on prior coursework, it enables students to apply economic theory and econometric techniques to contemporary policy debates. A key component of the course is student-led presentations on assigned topics.

Kursets innhold

Core Content:

  • Empirical micro/labor and empirical macroeconomics with presentation of relevant papers, for example with including the economics of health care and Insurance
  • International Economics and Trade
  • Environmental and Climate Economics

 

Subset of the following:

  • Cost-Benefit Analysis, including marginal cost of public spending
  • Fiscal Policy and Taxation, including tax distortions and public finance topics
  • Experimental Economics
  • Behavioral Economics
  • Current Economic Affairs (i.e., timely and policy-relevant discussions)
