Biografi
Professor Dr. Juris Ellen J. Eftestøl is an academic with expertise in trade, transport and shipping law, with a particular focus on sustainable and efficient transport systems. She leads the interdisciplinary research pillar AMOR Transport transport | BI at BI's Center for Applied Mathematics and Operations Research Center for Applied Mathematics and Operations Research | BI, navigating complex legal landscapes to promote greener practices. Her work analyzes European Union rules and regulations and their impact on international trade, including distribution agreements and agency, as well as shipping and transportation.
Ellen J. Eftestøl is currently Professor of Law at BI Norwegian Business School and Adjunct Professor at the University of Gothenburg www.gu.se/en/school-business-economics-law. Previously, she was an adjunct professor at the Scandinavian Institute of Maritime Law, University of Oslo, and a full professor of civil and commercial law at the University of Helsinki. Her main areas of teaching are contract law, sales law, international trade and transportation. She received har doctoral degree from the University of Oslo. Eftestøl is a co-founder of the Helsinki-based INTERTRAN research group Researchers | Sustainable Law and Business | University of Helsinki and is a subject editor for Karnov's Digital Law Commentary, Ellen J. Eftestøl providing insight into the Norwegian Maritime Code and the Norwegian Commercial Agents Act. She is also a contributing editor to European Transport Law and provides legal expertise as an arbitrator. Ellen Eftestøl's research advances legal understanding and guides policy development for sustainable transport solutions.
