Introduksjon
This course description is for the 2026-2028 cohort.
Writing a master thesis, students apply the knowledge, competencies and skills they have acquired throughout their respective master’s programme. Students are expected to critically reflect on, and discuss, their choice of research question, literature, theory, data and sources, and empirical methods, where arguments and discussions should concern relevance, quality, precision, and responsibility in terms of ethics and sustainability considerations.
The thesis is written in groups of two, where the scope of the thesis should be equivalent to 30 ECTS per student. Working together in pairs adds team and cooperation skills to the overall learning experience, including how to take advantage of complementary competencies. Students who are prevented from working in pairs may hand in an application for individual submission.
Students must write a master thesis within their programme or major field of study. In case a pair of students belongs to two different master’s programmes (or majors), their joint thesis must satisfy the academic profiles of both programmes.
